The second season of Gen V is finally here and it drops on Amazon Prime Video September 17, 2025. The trailer premiered at San Diego Comic-Con and fans are losing their minds. Full of casting announcements, a Boys crossover and a tribute to the late Chance Perdomo, the trailer sets the tone for a darker and more intense season at Godolkin University. Here’s everything you need to know about the new season.

Ethan Slater Joins as Thomas Godolkin

The biggest surprise of the Gen V Season 2 trailer is Ethan Slater, Wicked and SpongeBob SquarePants alum, as Thomas Godolkin, the founder of the superhero university. He’s in a recurring role and the trailer hints he’s connected to the mysterious and deadly Project Odessa, a secret research project with ties to the university’s past. Not much is known about Thomas Godolkin’s role, but his presence implies we’ll be digging deeper into Godolkin University’s history and its part in the human vs Supes conflict. Fans are looking forward to seeing how he brings the gritty satire.

Starlight’s Mission for Marie

The trailer opens with a big crossover from The Boys as Erin Moriarty reappears as Annie January/Starlight stepping onto the Godolkin campus for the first time. In a dramatic moment, Starlight saves Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair) from an attacking Supe, Dogknott, and gives her a mission. “You can’t run forever,” Starlight tells a bloody Marie. “Vought is restarting Project Odessa and I need you to stop it.” This sends Marie back to Godolkin University, which is now run by a new and sinister dean, Cipher (Hamish Linklater), who used to run a Supe detention facility. Starlight’s involvement means Gen V is getting more tied to The Boys, especially after the events of The Boys Season 4, where Homelander’s grip on America got tighter. Marie’s role in uncovering the secrets of Project Odessa could make her a key player in the bigger fight against Vought’s plans and the trailer hints she could become more powerful than Homelander himself.

A Heartfelt Tribute to Chance Perdomo

The Gen V Season 2 trailer also acknowledges the passing of actor Chance Perdomo, who played Andre Anderson and passed away in a motorcycle accident in March 2024. The creative team, led by showrunner Michele Fazekas, decided not to recast Andre; instead, they reworked the season’s storylines to honor Perdomo’s legacy. The trailer gives us a glimpse of this tribute, showing Andre’s photo in a top-secret file and a voiceover vowing to uncover the truth about Project Odessa “for Andre”. Executive producer Eric Kripke said, “We had to rework everything, but that pales in comparison to what his friends and loved ones are going through”. Fazekas said Andre’s presence is felt throughout the season, so Perdomo’s impact on the show will live on. Also, Andre’s father Polarity (Sean Patrick Thomas) has been promoted to series regular and is driven to find out what happened to his son adding more emotional depth to the story.

A Darker Godolkin Under New Leadership

Season 2 picks up after the crazy events of Gen V Season 1 and The Boys Season 4 and America is under Homelander’s rule. At Godolkin University, the new dean Cipher has introduced a militaristic curriculum to turn students into “soldiers” for the war between humans and Supes. The trailer shows Marie, Jordan (London Thor and Derek Luh), and Emma (Lizze Broadway) back on campus after months of trauma, having been held in a secret facility at the end of Season 1. Cate (Maddie Phillips) and Sam (Asa Germann) are being hailed as the Guardians of Godolkin and are in line with Vought’s agenda. The trailer suggests a gladiatorial training regime with students fighting each other and Supes, themes of fascism and control.

Crossovers and Returning Cast

The trailer also shows appearances from other The Boys characters, The Deep (Chace Crawford), Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell) and Firecracker (Valorie Curry), bridging the two shows. The returning Gen V cast is Jaz Sinclair as Marie, Lizze Broadway as Emma, Maddie Phillips as Cate, London Thor and Derek Luh as Jordan, Asa Germann as Sam and Sean Patrick Thomas as Polarity. It’s gonna be coming of age and high stakes as Marie and her friends deal with personal loss and a secret program that could change the Supe landscape.
